Walking and Cycling Routes in
and Around Gommenec'h

There are many self-guided walking and cycling routes in the area. The one closest to Gommenec'h is the "Boucle Glazik" ("glaz" in Breton means both the blue of the water and the green of the countryside in Brittany). Measuring 13 km (8 mi) long, the route connects Gommenec'h, Pommerit-le-Vicomte and Saint-Gilles-les-Bois in a loop and is a perfect way to discover the local bocage – a mosaic of woodland and pastures.

  1. Start your trip in Gommenec'h, with its historic 16th century chapel containing many ex-voto and polychrome sculptures.

  2. Next stop is Pommerit-le-Vicomte, a town that is home to the oldest yew tree (between 1,500 and 1,800 years old) in the Côtes-d'Armor department.

  3. Just north of Pommerit is a monument dedicated to five brave young men who were ambushed and killed by the Nazis.

  4. As you continue north to Saint-Gilles-les-Bois, you'll cross the Goaz Mab stream, a terrific spot to observe the local fauna and flora. After reaching Saint-Gilles-les-Bois, head east and then southeast over the Goaz Mab once again and then back to Gommenec’h.

The park on the grounds of the Residence de l'If assisted-living facility in Pommerit-le-Vicomte has an arboretum, pond and playground. It’s a great spot to stop and take a quick break or enjoy a picnic.
